Notion ambient listening lets your team start and discuss motions from a Notion database. Each new database entry creates its own draft motion automatically, and Monnet keeps the conversation moving in the entry’s comments.

Connect a database

You need to be a workspace admin to enable ambient listening.
1

Open the Notion integration

Go to Settings → Integrations → Notion → Ambient.
2

Turn on ambient listening

Toggle Ambient on, then click Connect.
3

Choose a database

In Notion’s page picker, select the database Monnet should listen to and approve the connection.
You can connect one Notion database per Monnet workspace. Monnet listens only to the database you select; it does not discover or monitor other databases in your Notion workspace.

Start a motion from Notion

Add a new entry to the connected database. Monnet then:
  1. Reads the entry and identifies its requester.
  2. Creates one draft motion for that entry.
  3. Writes a motion document using the entry as its starting input.
  4. Replies in the entry’s Notion comments with a link to kick off the motion when it is ready.
The motion document is not a copy of the Notion entry. Monnet owns and develops it like any other motion document.
Creating the draft is automatic, but kicking it off is not. A person must use the Kick off link in Notion when the motion is ready.

Continue the conversation

Comments added to a tracked Notion entry become follow-up messages on its motion. Monnet’s replies appear both on the motion and in the entry’s Notion comments, so participants can continue from either place. Monnet can also post a new comment without waiting for someone to write first. For example, it can remind the requester that a motion needs input. When the content of a tracked entry changes, Monnet reviews the updated content and decides whether the motion document should change. Changes are not copied into the document automatically.

Member access and authorship

When you connect Notion, Monnet matches Notion users to workspace members by email. Use the member import screen to choose who can participate. The auto-grant new members setting controls whether newly matched Notion users receive access automatically. If Monnet cannot match an entry’s requester to a member with access, the admin who connected Notion becomes the motion’s author. Connecting Notion does not create members from incoming comments. Workspace access is granted through the import screen or the auto-grant setting.

Notion connector and ambient listening

Ambient listening watches the selected database for new entries, comments, and updates. The standard Notion tool connector is different: it lets Monnet search, read, create, or edit Notion content when a motion calls for it, but it does not watch a database or create motions automatically.
