Connecting Microsoft Teams lets people who aren’t Monnet users take part in your motions straight from Teams. Monnet messages them when a motion needs them, and their reply flows back into the motion automatically. It works the same way as the Slack integration — same access model, same member management. The differences are whose consent screen you land on and how members are identified.

What connecting Teams gives you

  • Member sync — people from your tenant can be brought into the Monnet workspace as Teams-only members.
  • Motion messages in chat — Monnet pings the right people in Teams when a motion needs their input, and their replies come back into the motion.
  • A path to full membership — a Teams-only member who follows a motion link and signs up becomes a full Monnet member.

Connect Teams

From your workspace, open Settings → Integrations. Under Microsoft Teams, click Connect. You’re redirected to Microsoft’s consent screen; after you approve, you’re brought back to Monnet. Each Microsoft tenant can be linked to one Monnet workspace at a time.
Approving the Microsoft consent screen is a tenant-level action. Depending on your organization’s settings, it may need a Microsoft 365 administrator.

Import and manage members

After connecting, manage who participates from Manage Teams members. Each person appears with:
  • Teams user — who they are in your tenant.
  • Function — defaults to their directory title and is editable here; whatever you set overrides the value shown in the Team tab.
  • Access — a per-user toggle. Turn it off and they lose Teams access and disappear from member dropdowns.
Whether members start with access depends on the auto-grant setting:
  • Auto-grant on: everyone in the tenant is granted by default; toggle off anyone you don’t want.
  • Auto-grant off: new people aren’t granted automatically — you toggle access on per person.
Changing it requires workspace admin or owner permissions.
Imported people join as Teams-only members. The import flow controls access and function, not workspace roles — set roles from the Team tab.

Taking part from Teams

Monnet writes to a person’s personal Teams chat. Replying there continues the conversation on the motion, and everything mirrors back into the web app. In a group chat or channel, Monnet waits to be invited: it engages when @mentioned and stays engaged for the next few messages. It won’t join every conversation it can see. See Talking with Monnet. When Monnet messages a Teams-only member about a motion, the message includes a link. Following it opens the motion, prompts them to sign up if they don’t have an account, and promotes them to a full member of the workspace. From then on they can use Monnet directly, in addition to Teams.

Troubleshooting

If you cancelled on Microsoft’s consent screen, click Connect again. If the link expired or returned an error, start over from Settings → Integrations — Monnet generates a fresh link each time.
Check that they appear in Manage Teams members with Access on. If they do and messages still don’t arrive, Monnet falls back to email — see Talking with Monnet.
Each Microsoft tenant connects to one Monnet workspace at a time. Disconnect it from the other workspace first, then reconnect here.
